“2Pac, Jay-Z, and Biggie didn’t get to the shit Wayne’s done” – Baby

March 31, 2009

lil wayne nuts

Random Foolishness of the week? Or the realist thing Baby ever said? Lets examine the facts. First, here’s Baby’s entire quote from a recent vibe interview.

“He can rap, he can sing, he’s just an artist,” he says. “I don’t think no one will ever be greater [than Wayne] because I don’t think no one puts in the time or the quality. If someone do come along, can you imagine what he’ll have to do? He got to put out on thousand mixtapes, do a thousand records [and] sell 100 million records. 2Pac, Jay-Z and Biggie didn’t get to the shit Wayne’s done.”

Did Rap Kill The Black Male Singer?

March 17, 2009

lil wayne

Props to my mom for sending this over to me. Word Mama Benhameen dropping knowledge on yall. Definitely a worthy read.

How many of you know who the best selling Black male singer in the world for 2008 was? I bet you’ll never get this right, without a few clues. Well, he’s 50 years old, considered washed up and too controversial to sell, plus the majority of his songs are more than 25 years old. It’s Michael Jackson, who sold more than Usher, Chris Brown, Ne-yo, John Legend, and Seal. The King of Pop sold nearly as many records worldwide as the #1 best-selling artist in the US regardless of race, Lil Wayne, whose genre of hip hop lost 19.8 percent in sales from the previous year. Michael Jackson’s song catalog sold 2.9 million copies with Thriller 25 topping over 2.3 million by itself, plus Michael didn’t even promote it and performed nowhere! Shocking isn’t it! (Lil Wayne sold nearly 3 million)

Bun B Interview (VIDEO)

March 16, 2009

Shouts to global grind. Hit the jump for part one of this joint. In part two he speaks on the FINAL UGK album, his love for kicks and other matters. In part one he speaks on surviving the financial situation we find ourselves in.  I always love hearing dude speak cause he is obviously highly educated, or informed and articulate may be better wording, but when he rhymes it’s so southern. Respect to one of the best to ever do it.
