During the Rock The Bells press conference last week, Raekwon explains the origins on his ’95 classic LP, Only Built For Cuban Linx being known as the “purple tape” . He also cooks it up with Crooked I which he explains how MC Eiht ended up in this video.
Believe it or not, unfortunately I know people who either never heard of this album or own a copy which is pretty sad. Well like Detox, I am pretty sure you’re all probably saying to yourself, whatever. However, it was revealed that Raekwon inked a deal with EMI Label Services to finally drop one of the most aniticpated and longest awaited album ever, Raekwon’s, Only Built For Cuban Linx 2.
The first album is by far my all time favorite Hip Hop album (surprised its not Reasonable Doubt huh?) so I have been waiting a long time for this. Considering that the first installment of this chapter was 14 years ago, obviously this will not have the same elements as the first. However only time will tell if this album will full fill the expectations for those who grew up on the first album and argue forever that it’s the GOAT of all Hip Hop albums. Press released and videos from the album after the jump

“He can rap, he can sing, he’s just an artist,” he says. “I don’t think no one will ever be greater [than Wayne] because I don’t think no one puts in the time or the quality. If someone do come along, can you imagine what he’ll have to do? He got to put out on thousand mixtapes, do a thousand records [and] sell 100 million records. 2Pac, Jay-Z and Biggie didn’t get to the shit Wayne’s done.”

Thought you would get through today without a political post? sheeeeeeiiit. The New Yorker endorses Obama.
Never in living memory has an election been more critical than the one fast approaching—that’s the quadrennial cliché, as expected as the balloons and the bombast. And yet when has it ever felt so urgently true? When have so many Americans had so clear a sense that a Presidency has—at the levels of competence, vision, and integrity—undermined the country and its ideals? Read the rest of this entry »
