DJ CONCEPT – LIVE & DIRECT 4
December 17, 2008stolen so ruthlessly…links and all from my boy Ian. thanks homie!
“DJ Concept has put together a funky collection of instrumentals, rare grooves and soulful smoke-out vibes into a double volume of goodness. W.E.X.E. is an hour-long unwinding of one’s soul. Always known to follow his own path, DJ Concept draws another simple blueprint of what goes on in the lounge areas of NYC’s best buddah spots. Most of these smoke-filled funk tracks have been sampled by the greats like Pete Rock, Dr. Dre,Rza, DJ Premier and so many more. Grab a pack smokes, a fine strong drink, a beautiful girl and sit back and see if you can figure out who sampled what.” Read the rest of this entry »

the greatest loss in hip hop is?
December 17, 2008Is the DOC losing his voice the greatest loss Hip-Hop has ever experienced? His one and only LP No One Can Do it Better stands as a testament to the strength and power that poured from his vocal cords. His verse on NWA’s The Final Episode is arguably the best, and his lyricism would go on to fuel the majority of The Chronic and 2001. He served as a mentor to Snoop and a motivator for Dr. Dre, and continues to write, produce, and develop other talent to this day. With only one album before the accident to his name it’s crazy to think what else he could have accomplished. After the jump a couple of his classics to remind the slow ones out there.
